What Is Panopto

Panopto, available in Canvas, is a tool for recording presentations created by Instructors and/or Students.

Overview

Panopto records content by Instructors and/or Students. While recording, you can capture audio, video, your computer screen and/or PowerPoint (also Keynote). Opt for your preferred combination, and your recordings will be uploaded automatically and viewable within 30-45 minutes.

Where can I view Panopto recordings?

Panopto-created content can be easily viewed by students and Instructors in Canvas. However, Panopto recordings are not directly stored in Canvas; Panopto is a separate company integrated seamlessly into Canvas. Non-Panopto videos can be uploaded and shared via Panopto, making it convenient to share videos with students outside of Canvas. This is important because it's useful to know that it's unnecessary to use Canvas to share Panopto videos.
