Banner Troubleshooting and Outages

Scheduled System Maintenance: Most recent updates were performed Saturday, April 11, 2026

Known Issues:

  1. Chrome Updates Cause Banner AppNav to Spin - an update to Chrome results in pages that do not load and requires a setting change to fix the issue.
  2. Invalid username/login message (AppNav and Self Service Banner) - Sometimes user credentials are sticky and expire, this causes the browser to send expired credentials to the new login attempt and produces an error for the user. Clearing your cache or using an incognito/private browser window will resolve the issue.
  3. 403 Forbidden (AppNav) - You will get this message if you are not on the SEU network, or on the VPN. Sometimes wireless users on campus will switch between the SEU and SEU-Guest network without realizing it and receive this message. Verify your connections and try again.
  4. Self Service Banner Loads Blank Page, or Contact Admin - If you log in to Banner Self Service and the page is blank (aside from the header and your name), you should clear your cache or use another browser to get the page to load correctly. This happens intermittently, especially if you have not logged in since the last Banner update.
  5. Faculty Self Service Banner Blinks or does not load - After Banner updates have been installed, users need to clear their cache. Clearing your cache or using an incognito/private browser window will resolve the issue (the instructions are the same as the invalid user name page above).

As known issues are found or resolved, this page will be edited to help users troubleshoot possible issues with Banner applications.
