Common Classroom Issues By Device
Please see our support article for a comprehensive list of classroom technology, including standard classroom hardware and software.
- Make sure the remote is charged by plugging in its USB-C power cable.
- Note: It can recharge in five minutes.
- To ensure quick and accurate responses, always aim the classroom remote at the instructor station. The remote communicates with a receiver fastened to the instructor station box underneath the desk, so pointing it elsewhere may result in delays or multiple unintended clicks.
- If standing closer or pointing at the instructor station does not work, contact OIT.

We also recommend seeing our quick video guide about the Classroom Remote:
If you receive an error message from the projector, such as, Replace the lamp/Lamp hours have been exceeded, promptly submit a support ticket to OIT for a bulb replacement. In the meantime, if the projector is functioning, you can still use it.
If the projector is not functioning, please indicate that in your support ticket.
Note: To conserve the lifespan of the equipment, remember to shut off the projector as soon as class ends or you no longer need to use it.
- To confirm if the projector is on, check for a visible blue light on the projector itself. If the light is not on, use the projector remote control to turn on the projector or click the "On" button on the left side of the touch panel screen.
- Verify that the "Hide Screen" button on the touch panel is not selected.
- If you have confirmed that the projector is on, ensure you have the correct source selected by selecting the proper device from the top of the touch panel screen. For example, if you want to project your PC screen, ensure you have PC selected. You can tell the inputs are providing a valid signal when the little dot in the upper left corner is green.

- To check if the monitor is on, look to see if there is a light on at the bottom right corner of the monitor. If this light is not on your monitor, it means the monitor is off.
- If the monitor is off (you don't see a light), press the monitor's power button to turn it back on.
- If the monitor is on, look behind the monitor and ensure the cables are inserted properly.
- If the instructor station monitor and computer are both on, but you only see the desktop wallpaper with no icons, the projector has likely been switched to be the primary display. In this case, the desktop icons might have been moved to the projector screen instead of the computer monitor.
- Locate the "multi-display mode" options on the touch panel.
- If you do not see these options on the touch panel, ensure you have selected the PC input at the top of the touch panel screen.
- Press the first option, labeled "Mirror," to display the same view on the projector and the monitor. This will result in the desktop view on the monitor being mirrored (duplicated) on the projector screen.
- To determine if the issue is with the computer or the mouse, perform a quick test using the Ctrl+Alt+Delete shortcut.
- If there is a response, the computer mouse must be repaired, reconnected, or replaced. Contact OIT to notify our agents of this issue.
- If there is no response, then the computer is the culprit. Follow the troubleshooting steps below:
- Use the Reboot / "Fix it" button on the touch panel.
- If the reset options above don't resolve the issue, try holding down the power button on the PC tower located under or next to the instructor station until it shuts off. Then, press the power button again to turn it back on.
If the issue persists after attempting these troubleshooting steps, contact OIT.

Press the "Auto" button on the touch panel. This will automatically focus the image.
- Check the touch panel to see if the camera is connected.
- Find the "PTZ Room Cam" button on the bottom left side of the touch panel screen and ensure that the light on the top left corner of the icon is green, not red. If it is red, contact OIT.
- Test camera control the camera using the touch panel.
- Click the "PTZ Room Cam" button, and use the control options to attempt to move the camera.
- If the camera does not move, contact OIT.
- If you can control the camera from the touch panel, ensure you have selected the rear classroom camera as the input source. The name of the camera input is "Xl100DUSB-HDMI Video" or "USB Capture HDMI."
- Check if you have the correct audio device selected: "Samson GoMic."
- If you do not see Samson GoMic listed as an option, ensure that the microphone is properly plugged in.
- If the correct audio input is selected, ensure the blue volume slider bar is not set to 0.

If your audio is not working in Zoom:
- Click the up arrow next to the microphone icon and ensure "Samson GoMic" is selected.
- If "Samson GoMic" is selected and the audio is still not working, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Windows icon in the bottom left corner of the screen or press the Windows key on the keyboard.
- Search for Control Panel > "Hardware and Sound" > "Sound."
- Under the "Recording" tab, locate "Samson GoMic." It should have a green check mark. If it doesn't, right-click on it and select "Set as Default Communication Device."

Restart the computer by holding the power button until the machine completely turns off, wait, then press the button once more to turn it back on.
If the issue persists, move to another computer and submit a ticket to OIT. In your ticket, please report which computer(s) are not working by including the computer number, usually marked by a sticker on the lower left or right of the monitor.
If there is no sticker on the monitor, open File Explorer and look for the computer's name in the left-hand column.
