All university members, students, faculty and staff can reset their passwords through our self-service portal.
If you only need to change your password, log in to your account self-service and change your password.
If you forget your password, click "Can't access your account?" to explore account recovery options. Follow the outlined steps to receive a temporary password, granting you access to set a new password for your account.
While you're resetting or updating your password, we recommend learning about enhancing the security of your password by reading the university's Password Policy. We also recommend verifying your secondary email address and security questions while you're here. Your password expires after one year, and you'll be prompted to change it upon expiration.
Resetting or changing your password will sign you out of logged-in services such as Google Drive or Box. You'll need to sign back in afterward; most apps should prompt you to log in again.
Faculty & Staff with University-issued Computers:
For faculty or staff members with university-issued computers, you'll need to connect your computer to the campus network or VPN before changing your password to ensure you can continue to log in to your computer. If you're off campus when you update your password, follow these steps to prevent computer lockout.
Windows:
1. Connect to VPN from your university-issued computer.
2. Change your password at account.stedwards.edu.
3. Use your new password to sign in to applications or services on your computer (e.g., Google Drive, Box, etc).
4. Remain connected to VPN for at least 20 minutes.
5. Press CTRL-ALT-DELETE and select "Lock computer". Windows should prompt you to update your password.
6. Enter your new password to unlock your computer.
macOS:
1. Reboot your Mac, and ensure you're connected to Wi-Fi at the login screen. You don't need to be connected to VPN.
2. Log in with your new password, and your Mac will request your old password to sync changes.
3. Your Mac will now log in with your new password.
If you are unable to reset your password through account self-service, contact OIT support at support@stedwards.edu and we'll work with you to get your password reset.
