At St. Edward's, Google Classroom serves as an organizational tool for Google Drive documents.
Google Classroom is not a Learning Management System (LMS), it's an entry point for Google Docs and Drive.
- Note: Canvas is the only supported LMS on campus.
OIT support for Google Classroom excludes integrations with Banner for course enrollment, Panopto or Turnitin.
Course content must be created outside Google Classroom and linked to from within it. Classroom relies on the integration with Google Docs and Drive and other custom integrations.
Suggested Use for Google Classroom
Classroom is ideal for when students are collaborating using Google Docs and answering real-time questions from the instructor. Additionally, Classroom is a useful tool for organizing files in Google Drive folders, particularly for complex organizational needs.
Think of Classroom as a way to contextualize the relationship between files and folders, whether by date, subject matter or activity.
Accessing Google Classroom
Access Classroom via your Gmail inbox using the grid icon in the top right corner.

Scroll down through the apps, click the Classroom icon and it will prompt you to join or create a class.
