Learn how to connect your laptop using wireless projection in select classrooms across campus.
Note: Mersive Solstice pods support up to 40 connections and a maximum of 60 posts. Keep in mind that one connection can have multiple posts.
Explore the following topics in this guide on wireless projection:
- Start up the touch panel by clicking the power icon labeled "Press here to begin."

- Under "Connect Source Device," select "Laptop."

- To connect from your laptop:
- Ensure the Solstice wireless projection software is installed. Refer to the list of supported operating systems or installation.
- Note: Only connect the Mic and Camera if you intend to use them for Videoconferencing.
- Ensure you connect your laptop to the SEU (Wi-Fi) Wireless using your St. Edwards credentials.
- Open the Mersive Solstice app.
- Click:
- "Settings" in the lower-left corner
- The "General" tab
- Enter the "Solstice Discovery Service Address": psolstice01.seu.stedwards.edu.
- Note: This address only works in the Mersive Solstice app. You will only need to enter this address the first time you connect.

- Click "Back" to find a list of all the rooms. Select the room you are in to begin a new session.

- Enter the provided room PIN Code #### to connect, as displayed on the instructor's station touch panel and the screen (if you have started the projector).
- Note: To prevent students from sharing, either connect your display before turning on the projector or use the Hide Screen button on the touch panel.

- You should then be able to share content from your computer. Select from options such as Desktop, App Window, and Media File.

Have students connect their laptop or mobile phone using wireless projection in select classrooms across campus using these instructions. Feel free to share these instructions with students as needed.
- Instructors can use the "Layout" tab to control whose content is displayed.

What do you do when someone shares something on the screen that you don't want?
Hide Screen
- On the instructor's touch panel in the classroom, click "Hide Screen."
- Note: When a new wireless projection session begins, a new PIN Code is issued.
Force End Session
- You can also click the green "Force End Session" button if someone forgets to stop their wireless projection sharing.

Moderation
- You could also use the "Moderate" option within the Solstice App.
Note: Using Moderation for student sharing is not recommended, as Moderation Alerts don't display properly each time.
- After connecting to the display, go to the "Moderator Menu" and activate the toggle switch for "Moderate Meeting."
- Note: If the side menu collapses and covers the words, look for the icons on the left.

- When someone else tries to join the display, an Alert will be sent to your Solstice App. As the Moderator, you can Approve or Deny from that screen. Then, the student will get a waiting screen as they wait to get approved.

- Once approved, the student will be connected and granted options to share their screen. After completing their screen-sharing session, they will be able to disconnect.
- To view the list of connected students, select "Layout" from the menu. Click on the person icon to see the name of the person sharing and get options to show, hide, or delete their post(s). Additionally, you can choose to stack the posts for someone sharing multiple screens. You can also drag a post to the left side of the layout window to hide it.

To share audio or video with audio during class, you can do so through Mersive Solstice. The first time you share audio, you may be prompted to download drivers and restart the Solstice app.
- Connect to the Solstice App.
- In the left menu, select "Settings."
- Click "Control" and ensure "Auto Share Audio" is on.

- If prompted, click "Yes" to install the audio driver. Once the driver is installed, you will not be prompted to install it again.

- Follow the onscreen instructions to install the drivers. Click "Continue" to move through the installation.
- When installation is complete, you will be prompted to quit Solstice and restart the app.
- Whenever you share content with audio, it will automatically play.
If you need to share your PowerPoint without displaying the PowerPoint Notes on the screen, follow these steps:
- Before sharing, launch PowerPoint on your computer
- Display the presentation via "Presenter View"
- In Solstice, share the "App Window"

- Select the PowerPoint Slide Show and not the Presenter View.

- Go to "Settings" and enable "Extended Presentation Mode": If enabled, PowerPoint slideshows shared in the Solstice app will show only the presentation slides on the Solstice display.
- Conference drivers must be installed (see Room Camera + Mic in the left-hand navigation).
- Note: This is a one-time install.
- Enable "Presenter View" in PowerPoint to view speaker notes and access other presenter tools.
If you need to connect via SEU Guest on (Wi-Fi) Wireless, you may get a message indicating that your connection is not private. If you do receive this message, follow these steps:
- Click "Advanced"

- Click "Proceed to select IP address."

Note: If you have an older Mac OS (Catalina or older), this would be an option to share any browser content.
- From your browser window (Chrome is the preferred browser to use), visit the room IP address. This is displayed on the instructor's station touch panel when the source Laptop is selected.
- Select "Share my Screen."

- Enter the key shown on the room display, then enter your name and click "Launch."

- This will allow you to select the option of which browser content you want to share.
- Note: This option has a known issue that doesn't allow you to share other app content from your device/laptop. If you want to share app content, the best option would be to use the Mersive App.
Mac OS Permissions
On Mac OS, you must allow the client to record your desktop. Share your desktop or app window, navigate to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab > Screen Recording, and check the box beside Mersive Solstice. If Mersive Solstice is not listed, restart your computer, reconnect to the display using the client, and check back in the screen recording section.

Mersive Solstice App Connect to Display
When you connect to SEU Wireless and there is no list of rooms to "Connect to Display," go to "Settings," under the "General" settings, you will see the "Solstice Discovery Service Address." Type in "psolstice01.seu.stedwards.edu."

This will allow you to click the back button, and you will see a list of all the rooms. Select the room you are located in, and a new session will begin. Enter the four-digit key shown on the room display.
