Canvas Settings allow Teachers or TAs to set up options for the entire class. Settings are found at the bottom of your course menu.

You can upload an image to the Course Card that will appear on the Canvas Dashboard. This step is optional. Click Choose Image to upload an image.

The Course Name and ID are automatically generated by the Canvas integration with Banner and take the format of Course Abbreviation-Number-Section Number Term (e.g., COSC-1301-01 Summer 2024). If a course is cross-listed in Banner it will list the Term followed by the full course title followed by the course abbreviations for each course (e.g., Summer 2024 FAMILIES/INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP (PSYC-3328-21, SOCI-3327-21, SOCW-3327-21). We recommend not changing course names or course IDs as these are used for the course evaluation system.
Canvas course start and end dates are determined by class dates in the official course schedule. Canvas courses start three weeks before the official course date and end 3 weeks after. Faculty cannot change these dates in Canvas to allow students earlier or later access to course materials. Faculty can control student access to a course by publishing their course only when it is ready for student access. Students can access the course's content only after it's been published and its start date has passed.
The default file storage for every Canvas course is 1 GB. If this is insufficient, consider moving videos or very large slide decks to Google Drive and linking from there. Requests for increased storage can be submitted through the OIT Support Desk at support@stedwards.edu.
You can enable a Grading scheme to translate your Canvas gradebook scores from percentages or points to a letter grade. The Grading scheme can also be useful if you want to submit final grades via Canvas. To enable a grading scheme, check the box next to Enable Grading Scheme and then choose and edit your grading scheme.

View the Canvas guide on Grading Schemes for more information.
You can enable links to recent course announcements at the top of your Canvas Home Page.
