This article explains how to add your pronouns to university applications managed by the Office of Information Technology (OIT).
With a few clicks, you can add your pronouns to applications you use daily:
If you choose to display your pronouns in Canvas, they will appear next to your name in different sections of Canvas, such as:
- Comment Fields
- Discussions
- Inbox
- People Page (Course and Groups)
- User Navigation Menu
- User Profile Page
- User Settings Page
How to set up your pronouns in Canvas:
- Log in to Canvas from myHilltop.
- From the navigation menu, go to "Account" > "Profile" > "Edit Profile."
- In the "Pronouns" drop-down menu, select your pronouns.

- Sign in to the Zoom web portal from myHilltop.
- In the "Profile" section, click "Edit."Then, enter your pronouns in the "Pronouns" field.
- Decide how you would like to share your pronouns (always share, ask first, or do not share).
- Click "Save."
