Campus Press/EduBlogs/sites.stedwards.edu Retirement: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Why is CampusPress being retired?
A: St. Edward’s has used Campus Press/Edublogs (sites.stedwards.edu) for 13 years to host WordPress sites. Over the last few years, the usage of Campus Press has decreased while the cost has increased. Most content on Campus Press could be moved to Google Sites, which is already covered by our Google Workspace contract. A few sites may need to be transferred to a more affordable WordPress Hosting service.
Q: When will CampusPress content no longer be available?
A: After May 31, 2026 content on sites.stedwards.edu will no longer be available.
Q: What is the deadline for moving existing content from Campus Press to another hosting site?
A: All content should be moved by May 31, 2026.
Q: When will the ability to create new sites be turned off?
A: After August 1, 2025, only existing content can be edited. No new sites can be created.
Q: What are my options for moving existing content?
A: There are two options for moving content that you want to preserve:
-
Copy existing content to a Google Site.
-
Export your CampusPress content and then import it into another WordPress host.
Assistance in both options is available. We will email a form to all site admins from the last 4 years on March 25th to gather information about sites that need to be moved. Contact support@stedwards.edu or fill out the form emailed to you.
Q: What if I want to keep the WordPress content and move it to another WordPress host?
A: We’ll provide instructions for exporting your existing content into a zipped file, which can be imported into another WordPress site. There are affordable WordPress sites like WordPress.com and Reclaim Hosting. If you’re interested in exploring these options, please contact us at support@stedwards.edu and let us know. We will contact all active users in the last 4 years and provide a form to gather information about your site. The university will fund a move to Reclaim Hosting if your site is actively updated and requires blogging or other capabilities unavailable in Google Sites.
Q: How do I move content to Google Sites?
A: Moving content from CampusPress to Google Sites will be a copy/paste process. If you have a large site, please indicate that you need assistance when you fill out the form that will be emailed to you. We will help you move the content to Google Sites starting in Spring 2025.
Q: Where can I find instructions on using Google Sites?
A: Using Google Sites has instructions for setting up a Google Site, adding editors and publishing.
Q: Can I redirect from the current site to the new site on Google Sites?
A: Yes, you can set up a redirect in your CampusPress settings to direct users to the new site. However, that site redirect will only be in place until our contract with Campus Press ends on June 30, 2026. Instructions for setting this up are at Safe Redirect Manager Plugin. If you need a redirect, this is a good reason to move your site as soon as possible. We can help you with the move.
Q: Can I get assistance moving my content?
A: Yes, when you fill out the form you receive, please indicate that you would like assistance. We can assist you with creating an export file or moving your content to Google Sites. If you don't receive a form, please contact support@stedwards.edu.
