Setting Up Email for Smartphones

Learn how to enable access to your university inbox on your mobile devices.

We recommend downloading the Gmail and Google Calendar apps from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store for reliable service. You can add your Gmail inbox and Google Calendar to your device’s native apps, but be aware that these won't always function like Google's apps.

If you want to link Gmail to your device, we have instructions for both iOS and Android.

iPhone and iOS

  1. Tap "Settings" > "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" > "Add Account""Google."
  2. Enter your full email address (e.g., NAME@stedwards.edu), and current St. Edward's password.
  3. Tap "Next."
  4. You'll be greeted with the familiar university login page. Log in with your username and password.
  5. Choose which content you'd like to synchronize: Mail, Contacts and Calendars.
  6. Tap "Save."

 Android

  1. Open the Email app on your phone and tap "Inbox" at the top of the screen. Then tap "Settings."
  2. Select "Add Account" and choose "Google."
  3. Enter your St. Edward's email and password. If you'd like this to be your default email, go ahead and select "Set as Default Account."
  4. You'll be greeted with the usual university login page. Log in with your username and password.
  5. On the next screen, you can name your account and tap "Done." Your phone will also prompt you to adjust your sync and notification settings.

Note for Android users: The Google Play Store isn’t accessible with your St. Edward's account because purchased content is linked to it and can't be transferred if you leave the university. Be sure to use a personal Google account to download apps.
