Understanding all the resources available to you as a St. Edward’s staff member can be confusing. Before jumping into this checklist, we recommend reviewing “Application Access for Employees.” This support article details which applications you can access as a staff member.
Staff Essentials
- myHilltop: myHilltop is the gateway to all St. Edward’s services and systems, including timesheets, employee information and all the applications listed on this page. You can search for or filter tasks, and you can favorite those you use most frequently for easy access.
- Email: Messages will be sent to your university Gmail account, accessible via myHilltop or mail.stedwards.edu.
- Google Workspace: Google Calendar and Google Drive are just some apps available through your St. Edward’s University Google Workspace account.
- More Storage with Box: With Box, you have unlimited storage. Unsure whether to use Box or Google Drive? Check out our comparison chart.
- Software Discounts: As a St. Edward’s staff member, you’re eligible for discounts on software like Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office.
- Cybersecurity: Set up more than one authentication factor. You don’t need to set up all available factors, but OIT recommends you set at least one backup factor in case your preferred method is unavailable.
- Stay connected with colleagues. Workplace is the central hub for employee communication.
- Note: Subscribe to OIT’s Tech Tips group for helpful advice on using campus technology.
- Work efficiently from wherever you are: We've gathered advice and best practices to make working remotely as smooth as possible. If you plan on conducting a hybrid meeting, see our best practices for conducting a hybrid meeting to ensure all members are connected and engaged in the meeting.
Something Extra
- Get access to training and learning resources: All St. Edward’s staff have access to LinkedIn Learning and its thousands of training videos a multitude of skills and tools. You even have the option to connect your university LinkedIn Learning account with your personal LinkedIn page to show off all that you’ve learned. Find the link in myHilltop.
- Create audio and video projects: Is outreach or communication part of your job? Contact the Digital Media Center, located on the second floor of Munday Library, to reserve our green screen, audio booth or podcast studio, or edit digital media files with specialized software.
- More Cybersecurity: OIT will never ask you for your password. If someone does ask for it or other sensitive personal information in a message, it’s a phishing attack.
- Be the first to know: Follow OIT on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube to stay up-to-date on campus technology.
Need Something More?
Employees gain baseline access to Banner, the university’s central system, corresponding to their roles. If you need deeper or more specialized access, work with your supervisor to request it.
