How to Setup Mobile Credentials

Original instructions on how to setup mobile credentials can be found [here in Box].

To complete the SEU Mobile ID set up, you will need your iPhone or Android phone and a computer.

Setting Up Okta Verify (MFA)

First, verify your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) set up with St. Edward's University. If you already use a method of MFA (Google Authenticator, SMS, etc.) it may work with the University's MFA infrastructure — you can find out by visiting OIT's information page on MFA.

If you'd like to use the University's suggested MFA app, Okta Verify, go to identity.stedwards.edu on your computer.

The identity.stedwards.edu Work page

Click on the Settings tab. When the drop-down appears, click Settings again and the page will open.

Scroll down to Extra Verifications.

The Extra Verification section, with Okta Verify Push

Press the Set up button.

On your mobile device, download Okta Verify:

  • On an iOS device, open the App Store.
  • On an Android device, open the Google Play Store.

Download the Okta Verify app and select your device type.

Setup Okta Verify — selecting your device type

Open the Okta Verify app on your phone and press Add Account.

The Okta Verify welcome screen

You will be prompted to allow the app access to your camera. Use it to take a picture of the QR code shown on your computer screen.

After, you'll then see the continually updating security code that the app generates to be used as a second layer of authentication on the main page of the app. Once that begins, you're finished with the Okta Verify app and the identity.stedwards.edu site.

Installing eAccounts and Adding Your Mobile ID

Next, on your mobile device, download eAccounts (the Transact eAccounts app — red, with white arrows):

On an iOS device, open the App Store.

On an Android device, open the Google Play Store.

Once downloaded, the app will ask you to choose your school. Search for "St Edwards University" and select it, then log in using your SEU username and password.

If you're a new student, staff, or faculty member who doesn't yet have a photo in the system, you'll need to submit one before provisioning the mobile credential. Review the photo submission guidelines first, then:

  • Click the gear icon in the top right of the screen in eAccounts.
  • Click Submit Photo, then Get Started, and follow the directions.
Tip: You'll have to wait for your photo to be approved before you can provision your mobile credential.

Once the app loads, you'll see an Add to Apple Wallet (or Add to Google Pay) option in the top right of the screen. Follow the instructions to add your SEU ID to your device.

Once your SEU ID is added successfully, navigate to the Wallet app on your device to access it.

Adding Your Credential to a Second Device

To add your Transact Mobile Credential to Apple Wallet on a second device:

  • Ensure your second device is signed into the same iCloud account as the first device.
  • From the Campus ID screen in eAccounts, tap the info icon in the upper right corner of your Transact Mobile Credential display.
  • Tap Add or Remove Campus ID from Wallet.
  • Choose your second device to add your Transact Mobile Credential.
  • On the Add Card to Wallet screen, tap Next in the upper right corner.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete adding your card.

Loading Topper Funds

Android: Sign into eAccounts with your SEU credentials, but use Add to Google Pay with your personal Google account, as it manages your Google Pay account on your phone. Android also requires manually enabling NFC in your settings for the credential to work. Load Topper funds by connecting a card already on your phone, adding a new card, or adding a bank account to draw funds.

iPhone: Load Topper funds to the Apple Cash app by connecting a card already designated on your iPhone, adding a new card, or adding a bank account to draw funds.

Using Your Mobile ID

With your mobile SEU ID, you can complete any action that would have previously required a physical ID card by simply placing your iPhone, Apple Watch, or Android phone near enabled readers on and off campus. Your mobile ID will be accepted everywhere the physical card is accepted.

Tip: For iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, and later, Express Mode lets you use your SEU ID without unlocking the device with a passcode, Touch ID, or Face ID — just tap your device against the reader and you're done.

To show your ID photo for ID verification, you can display your mobile ID from Apple Wallet or Google Pay.
