Use this article as a guide to reset your authentication factors. If you've switched to a new device and use authentication apps like Okta Verify or Google Authenticator.
This article covers how to reset MFA if:
Replaced your device? Reset your MFA for apps like Okta Verify or Google Authenticator on your St. Edward's account to avoid getting locked out.
If you still have access to your old device, follow the steps below:
- Log in to your St. Edward's account through the Manage Your Account task in myHilltop or identity.stedwards.edu.
- Click "Edit Profile" in the upper right corner. To access account editing capabilities, you will need to sign in again. This means that you will be prompted for MFA. If the prompt defaults to a factor you can't access, use the drop-down menu to select an accessible one. For example, if you are prompted to use Okta Verify but don't have access, you can opt for Security Key or Biometric Authenticator. If you can't access any authentication factors, contact OIT Support for assistance with a factor reset.

- Scroll to the "Extra Verification" section. Click "Remove" to remove authentication for the factor you are trying to reset.
- After removing the authentication factor, the button Remove changed to "Set up. Click "Set up." You will need to sign in again and authenticate via MFA.
- Click "Set up."
- Select the device you will use (iPhone or Android).
- Launch your authentication app (Okta Verify or Google Authenticator).
- Follow the app's prompts to finish setting up the factor.
