Canvas works on all the latest Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge releases, but sometimes issues arise.
This article covers:
The Canvas Community regularly updates with the latest supported browsers. This site will also check your browser to ensure it is supported and provides detailed troubleshooting instructions. We recommend installing the latest version of at least two browsers; Chrome should be one of them for Canvas. As noted below, Safari has issues with some 3rd party content.
Some supported browsers may still display a banner stating that your browser does not meet the minimum requirements for Canvas. If you have upgraded your browser, but you are still seeing the warning banner, try logging out of Canvas and clearing your browser's cache and cookies.
Safari Issue with Student Turnitin Submissions
If students are prompted to enter their username and password when attempting to submit a Turnitin assignment, they should switch from Safari to Chrome or Firefox. Turnitin requires browser cookies, and some versions of Safari may not be properly set up for this. We recommend that students choose a different browser.
Safari Issue with Qwickly Attendance
Safari does not allow the secondary authentication within Canvas needed to authorize Qwickly. We recommend that students and faculty choose a different browser.
Safari Issue with Recording Media
The Safari browser does not support recording media using the built in media player/recorder.
