Body
Do you want to ensure your grade book is set up correctly, modules display properly and only show necessary menu items? Faculty can view a Canvas course as a student to confirm everything looks right.
Student View helps confirm that pages, modules and assignments are published while disabling unused menu items. You can submit assignments using Test Student, creating a placeholder in the Grades. You can leave Student View to grade the assignment and return to see how they view grades and feedback. However, you cannot modify the course while in Student View.
- Log in to Canvas.
- Click the Canvas Course you wish to view as a student.
- Click "Student View" in the upper right corner of any page, assignment or the Module page.

- Note: You can also access Student View from Course Settings.
- Your screen will transform with a pink line around the Canvas window. At the bottom of the screen, you'll see a message indicating you're logged into Student View.
- When you're done viewing your course as a student, click "Leave Student View." If you are testing assignment submissions as a student, click "Reset Student" to clear any assignment submissions or grades.
Note: You cannot use Student View to test Turnitin, Panopto videos, Flip or other external applications. These are external tools that require a valid student email address.
