So, you received a phishing or employment scam email. Unfortunately, these types of emails are becoming increasingly common. However, there are measures you can take to report this activity.
Ways to report suspicious email activity:
You must report any suspicious activity to protect yourself and others. When you report what you believe is a phishing or employment scam, the email gets analyzed to protect other users from spam and abuse.
Here’s what happens when the St. Edward’s cybersecurity team receives these reports:
- The reported messages are flagged across all St. Edward’s accounts as phishing. This adds a large warning banner to these emails.
- The sender is blocked.
- The cybersecurity team will follow up with anyone who responded to the scam to inform them of the situation.
Lastly, whenever you receive a suspicious-looking email at your St. Edward’s account, don't hesitate to forward it to support@stedwards.edu. It’s our job to help protect your data! So even if you’re uncertain, it’s better to err on the side of caution and let our cybersecurity team know.
