Why are we retiring Self Service Banner (SSB) 8?
- The vendor, Ellucian, has discontinued support for SSB8 as of January 1, 2026.
- The university community has been using Self Service Banner 9 for many years as Ellucian has delivered their more modern user interface in pieces. Our implementation of Employee, Finance, and General Self Service modules was completed in Summer 2025. Portions of Faculty Self Service 8 were extended to allow users to use Advising Tools that were not yet migrated.
How do I access Self Service Banner 9?
- Tasks in myHilltop that previously pointed to SSB 8 have been updated to SSB 9, and square menu pages will now direct users to the updated links as well.
- If you previously bookmarked pages, you will need to update your bookmarks.
What's new?
- While the pages will look different, the overall functionality remains unchanged.
- Ellucian's stated goal was to make their applications more mobile friendly and more accessible.
- Ellucian is not delivering a single page to replace the alternate PIN portions of Advisee Listing in SSB 8, so we are building an in-house solution to be available by March 1, 2026. Alternate PINs are available currently by visiting the student profile for each student, under Registration Notices.
