Using LucidSpark and LucidChart in Canvas

This article covers the following topics:

Accessing Lucid within Canvas

When accessing Lucid for the first time, you must verify course information and connect your Lucid account to your Canvas account before Lucid can be used in your course. Similarly, students must verify information and connect their Lucid and Canvas accounts before using Lucid.

You can access Lucid tools in Canvas in two ways:

  1. Via the Editor
Lucid is available as a tool in the Canvas toolbar anywhere the toolbar is available (Pages, Discussions, Assignment instructions). The icon is a dark blue L. If you don't see that tool, click on the Options button (3 vertical dots) to expand your toolbar.

  2. Adding a Lucid tool to a page can be used by the instructor to create a chart using LucidChart, or to create a collaborative space via the Lucid whiteboard, LucidSpark.

  4. Via the course menu.
By default, Lucid (Whiteboard) is listed in every course menu towards the bottom of the list. Click on the link to start a whiteboard session or to create a flowchart.

  5. Via an Assignment
Lucid tools may also be used to create a graded assignment. Lucid is available via the Lucid Tool in the Assignment Type field.
