Students should sign in to Zoom through myhilltop.stedwards.edu using their St. Edward's credentials to authenticate prior to joining a Zoom class meeting.
Students Joining Zoom Class Meetings
Before you join a Zoom class meeting, please be sure to follow these steps:
-
Close all open browsers on your device. (This will prevent you from logging in using a different account.)
-
Reopen your browser of choice and go to myhilltop.stedwards.edu and click on Sign In in the upper right corner.
-
Log in with your St. Edward's username and password.
-
On myHilltop, search for Zoom and click on it to start Zoom.
-
After clicking on Zoom in MyHilltop, click the Sign In button in the Zoom window. (Selecting Join will bypass the sign in and will not allow you to join breakout rooms if you are using those for your classes.)
-
If you do get a Zoom login window, select the SSO option, which will then direct you to the standard St. Edward's login window. Note: This step is important for anyone connecting on a mobile device. If you didn't already have Zoom installed, you will be guided to download and install it. This only needs to be done once on your devices. If it is already installed then click on, launch meeting. Ex. mobile:

-
Then go to your Canvas course and join class meetings by clicking the Zoom link. (From myhilltop.stedwards.edu, search for Canvas and click on Start. Go to your course.)
- Click on the Upcoming Meeting tab.
- Then, click on the Join button next to the correct meeting.

NOTE: Students can also schedule meetings outside of their classes by visiting Zoom from myHilltop and signing in with their St. Edward's credentials (email and password).
Students Viewing Class Recordings in Canvas
If faculty choose to publish their class meeting recording, students can access the recording by going to the Zoom menu option and 1) selecting the Cloud Recording tab. In the Cloud Recordings tab, they can see all prior class Zoom meetings, which will have 2) a link to the recording details.

Once a student clicks on the recording link, they will be taken to the Recording Details screen. Clicking on the recording thumbnail image will automatically save the password to the clipboard on the student's computer. There is a brief green message that reads, "Password copied to clipboard."

The next screen will prompt you to enter that password. Use Control-V (on Windows) or Command-V (on Macs) to paste the passcode in the field. Then click on Access Recording.

The video will appear, ready to play.
